We want to be sure that those of you who are seeking senior care options realize that there are many differences amongst the care options available and help you to determine the right choices. Lets go into a basic description of the different types of community available as care options.

Senior Care and Living Options

Assisted Living Facilities are large care facilities that have small apartment type settings. Many can be comparable to a resort style community providing care assistance with daily activities, three meals a day, laundry services, light housekeeping and even transportation. There are most always large activities schedules that provide a variety of activities for the residents living in the community.

Memory Care Facilities are designed for the individual living with cognitive impairment. Largely these communities cater to the Alzheimer and Dementia populations. These facilities are designed with memory challenges in mind. They really try to consider the challenges this population faces on a daily basis. They are particularly designed to better manage certain symptoms and challenges often faced by the individuals and families faced with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Adult Family Homes can be the right option for certain sets of circumstances and needs. They are a home type setting with room for about six residents. This environment provides meals, 24 hour close care. Depending on the circumstances and needs of your loved one this choice can be just the right level of simplification and consistency.

In home care may also be the right choice for your preference. This option provides 24hr caregivers that come into the patient’s home. Some people do not like the idea of being at home with care, however for many it is the preferred option. Elderly Connections has quality In Home Care options.

Our care advisors take a custom holistic approach in an attempt to avoid people ending up in the wrong care setting. Where resources and activities are concerned our advisors can customize a list of local resources based on your current needs and wants. Maybe you need family law, support groups, transportation or even just some local activities according to your interests.
